Professional experience

Charles (Charley) Bissell is Senior Vice President, for BWE Investment Sales focusing on the seniors housing sector. Charley is responsible for representing clients in the sale and capitalization of seniors housing assets, as well as growing the BWE seniors housing investment sales platform. He has been involved in commercial real estate since 1986 with a focus on seniors housing since the early 1990s. 

Prior to joining BWE, Charley was a Managing Director with JLL. He joined JLL’s Capital Markets group in late 2018 –  charged with growing the group’s production and presence in the seniors housing sector. Charley successfully recruited and managed a seniors housing investment sales team, and helped facilitate growth in the group’s production from $800 million in 2020 to $2.6 billion in 2022.

Prior to joining JLL, Charley was a partner of one of the founding companies of Integra Realty Resources (IRR), which grew into a national valuation and consulting company with more than 60 offices. He started and led IRR’s senior housing and healthcare practice and served on the Board of Directors. At IRR, Charley was involved in the valuation of more than $50 billion of seniors housing assets. 

Charley was also Co-Founder and Co-Manager of the ARA National Seniors Housing Group from its formation in 2008 until the successful sale of the group in 2014. During that period, the group completed over $1 billion of investment sales. 

Charley is a graduate of Dallas Baptist University with a Bachelor’s in Finance. He is a licensed real estate broker in Texas and California, and active in industry trade groups including the American Seniors Housing Association and the National Investment Center for Seniors Housing & Care (NIC). Charley is a supporter of affordable housing initiatives and has volunteered with Dallas Habitat for Humanity for several decades. He was named a Habitat Hero in 2006. 

Charley has been married to his wife Elise since 1992 and they have 3 boys. His hobbies include golf, travel with family, and working on their small farm north of Dallas.
