Bellwether Enterprise Real Estate Capital LLC (BWE), a national commercial and multifamily mortgage banking company, announced today that James “Jimbo” Tanner and Henry Tanner have joined the company as Executive Vice Presidents in its Raleigh office, specializing in Federal Housing Administration (FHA)-insured multifamily project loans. Together, the Tanners bring five decades of experience in mortgage banking to BWE.

The growth of BWE’s Raleigh office is part of a long-term expansion by BWE. Over the past five years, the company has grown its base of producers by nearly a third despite COVID-19 and uncertain economic headwinds. BWE plans to continue to add talented new producers to its offices across the country throughout 2023.

Over the course of his nearly 30-year mortgage banking career, James has specialized primarily in the origination, processing and servicing of FHA-insured project loans. Prior to joining BWE, he most recently served as Senior Managing Director for HUD/FHA Loans in Berkadia’s Raleigh office. He is a graduate of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
During his two-decade career, Henry has also specialized in the FHA programs to secure project financing for his clients. Before coming to BWE, Henry was a Managing Director for HUD/FHA Loans in Berkadia’s Raleigh office. He is a graduate of the College of Charleston.
The brothers have been particularly active using the FHA Section 221(d)(4), 223(f), 223(a)(7) and 232 programs. These loans have encompassed a wide array of residential housing types and have employed a large variety of funding sources, including GNMA, FNMA, Taxable and Tax-Exempt bonds, HOME, CDBG and Low-Income Housing and Historic Tax Credits. Together, they have originated several billion dollars in FHA loans and helped their customers bring countless multifamily housing units online throughout the country.
